The key to Petography's success is combining talent,
knowledge of photography and a love for animals. Patience
is also key. Jim doesn't expect pets to be models. He does
whatever it takes, with respect and kindness, to capture
each pet's attention to his lens to obtain that winning pose.
There is always that one magical thing to be found that will
tempt a particular animal, whether it be a treat, a toy, or a
key phrase. Heck, Jim's been known to sing arias to a nervous
Italian Greyhound, square dance for a Quarter Horse, and do
kabuki for a somnolent Siamese cat!
Animals are utterly truthful, and Jim Dratfield's Petography
captures that honesty in striking and memorable photo portraiture
like nobody else can. These photos are art gallery quality and
have appeared in a Madison Avenue art gallery in New York City.

im Dratfield is based in New York City. He makes weekly appointments in New Jersey, Westchester, Long Island and Connecticut, and also makes frequent stops in California, Texas and Florida. Jim travels throughout the country and Europe as well for comissioned work. He is available at his own travel expense outside of the NY Tri-state area for those who can arrange six sessions or more in their area as well as a rate by quote for one single session in any part of the U.S.
